For this project I was asked to format and design the cover of a self published book called "Cairns" by Katie Norris. The client asked for a simple rock cairn design with an odd number of rocks. The cover of the book is going to be letter pressed and taking that into account we discussed what that would mean for the design. We determined that the design should have texture that would come through when pressed. After talking I drew some designs and sent them to the client.
From the designs I sent the client she said that she liked option 2, 3 and 6. When sending the first round of designs I asked her to tell me which of the designs and styles she liked and if she would like to see any of them modified. she asked to see option 2 and 3 in the style of 4 and also to see 6 darker.
After reading through the notes the client wrote, I drew some new designs for all 3 of the designs that she liked.

All of my designs were sketched in procreate so for the final iteration I needed to draw it in Illustrator so that it will give the printers a clean and clear vector image. I used a brush in procreate that resembles an actual pencil so I wanted to try an replicate that in illustrator. Using the brush tool I was able to recreated the effect. Once drawn, I sent the vector image to the client for full approval and she loved it.
